Yorkshire Petanque comes to Molescroft

On Sunday 24th July Molescroft Beverley Petanque Club (MBPC) hosted its first ever Yorkshire Petanque event at their terrain based on Molescroft Pavilion playing field. Players from across the county were invited to come and take part in a triples competition, with three players from each team playing in each game. Eleven teams took part including 5 from the MBPC itself with many of these players experiencing competition level play for the first time. After each team had played 5 games throughout the day  the two most successful teams turned out to be two of the most experienced teams in the region.  However, in third place on the day was one of the teams from MBPC which is a great tribute to the hard work that has been put in by all in the club to enable players , who were beginners to the sport one or two years ago, to take the step up to such a level.  The team that came third comprised of Barry Gatewood, Josie Hardman, David Hudson, and Brian Wilson, pictured here receiving their prize from Suham.
